Bird Song Hill: low relief wood images by Russ Shaw will be on view March 4 through April 18, 2014 at Dublin Arts Council, 7125 Riverside Dr., in Dublin. Shaw creates three-dimensional wood-carved natural scenes that commonly feature birds found near the artist’s farm in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Shaw, a self-taught artist, creates frames from 100-year-old barn siding and inserts low relief scroll saw carvings from reclaimed native Ohio wood. Shaw dubs his completed artwork “thinking inside the box pictures.”

The exhibition opens with an artist’s reception Tuesday, March 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dublin Arts Council. The reception and the exhibition are free of charge. Gallery hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
