About the event
Created by Rhode Island artist Brower Hatcher in 2011, The Simulation of George M. Karrer’s Workshop celebrates Dublin history. The artwork, which was commissioned to celebrate Dublin’s bicentennial, is designed to conjure a memory of George M. Karrer’s blacksmith shop, which once stood on the artwork’s site in the late 1800s. Karrer, a German immigrant, was an influential figure in Dublin as his shop served as a community hub for decades.
Join Dublin Arts Council for a free community event to celebrate the artwork and learn more about the history it represents. The event will feature:
- Guided tours of the artwork
- Community artmaking
- Giveaways
- Seasonal refreshments
The event is free and open to the public. It is presented in collaboration with the Dublin Historical Society, which will host the grand opening of the Dublin Historical Society Museum during the same day, on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Museum is located at 35 South High Street, a few blocks away from the artwork.
