Connect and commemorate the Leatherlips sculpture’s 30th anniversary
Scioto Park, 7377 Riverside Dr., Dublin, Ohio
Dublin Arts Council’s Art & Wellness initiative continues, exploring how the nature of art can nurture personal and community wellbeing. The event will feature a temporary student-created public art installation, various forms of artmaking, performance and activities that aim to explore Dublin’s indigenous heritage while connecting visitors to the environment, community wellness and one another.
The event will also commemorate the 30th anniversary of Leatherlips by Boston-area sculptor and public artist Ralph Helmick, who will attend the event to host an artist’s talk. The 12-foot limestone portrait of Wyandot Chief Leatherlips, unveiled in 1990, is the first artwork of the Dublin Art in Public Places collection.
The event is supported in part by grants from a City of Dublin Hotel/Motel Tax grant, Cardinal Health Foundation, Ohio Arts Council and Puffin Foundation West, Ltd.
