Chalk Murals

Cecilia Martyna is a college student and Dublin, Ohio resident, who has been creating chalk art since she was 12 years old. During the summer of 2024, Martyna was commissioned to create three site specific temporary chalk murals in Dublin parks:

Martyna reflects on her artistic practice:

“My favorite thing about doing these chalk pieces is that they are relatable to so many people; most everyone has done chalk in their driveway or they’ve seen it at school with a friend, so to see it on a professional scale out in public while you are walking outside, it’s really awesome!

It is a great way to get people outside and to get people excited about art and something they might have been inspired to do as an art piece when they were little and now coming back to it as an adult or if they are little, going in and doing art on their own.

This is a really cool project to get everyone involved in spreading some joy through art and making people smile with a little bit of color on the wall.”
