Each of the quadrants are said to represent the four elements … Earth, Air (the pathtag hole of course), Water and Fire are represented as compass points. The Triskel is most commonly known as a symbol for travel and perpetual movement, central to tag design, with a repeating border of clover in a wheel around the outer rim.
